Jim Angelis

Jim has founded and managed businesses for over 35 years.

Jim co-founded an insurance business, Coverforce in 1994 for the purpose of providing group income protection and workers compensation “top up” insurance to the NSW construction industry. In 2005, he commenced an accelerated acquisition growth strategy which expanded Coverforce’s operations into general insurance broking and underwriting. Under Jim’s stewardship, Coverforce grew to become Australia’s largest privately owned insurance broker and was acquired in August 2021 by Steadfast for $412 million. Subsequent to the sale of Coverforce, Jim established a lower mid-market private investment firm, Elyon Capital, focused on taking partnership stakes in high quality Australian businesses.

Prior to founding Coverforce, Jim was a local member on the trading floor of the Sydney Futures Exchange and before this, co-founded Interak which was a building contracting company that specialised in building refurbishment and office fit outs. Clients included Lend Lease, Bank of Tokyo, Minter Ellison, Fairfax, Telstra, Austrade, ASX, HSBC, Qantas and Horwitz Publications.

Jim has a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, an Executive MBA from the University of Technology Sydney and a Diploma of Financial Services.
